Induction of the President and Council 2015/2016

The induction ceremony of the President and the Council was held in The Kingsbury on 6th November 2015. The chief guest was Dr. Rajitha Senarathne, Minister of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine and the guest of honor was Dr. Wijedasa Rajapakshe, Minister of Justice and Buddhashasana. The event was graced by the Past Presidents of the College, Fellows, Members and many distinguished invitees.

Welcome to the College of Community Physicians of Sri Lanka

The first professional association of public health officers in Sri Lanka was the Society of Medical Officers of Health which was established during the British colonial era on 26 November 1927. Association was established with a view to safeguarding interests of it’s members and promoting public health in the country and stimulating interests of the public in matters relevant to their health. Over the years, the association grown up with its membership and changed its name as the “Ceylon Public Health Association” and then as the “Sri Lanka Association of Community Medicine”. In 1994, the membership unanimously resolved to convert the association as The College of Community Physicians of Sri Lanka with an initial membership of 180. The membership consists of specialists in Community Medicine as well as from other specialties. 

Induction of the New President of the College

The Induction Ceremony of the New President Dr. Deepika Attygalle and the Council for 2015/ 16 was held on 6th November 2015 at The Kingsbury. The Chief Guest of the occasion was Dr. Rajitha Senarathne, Minister of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine. The Guest of Honor was Dr. Wijedasa Rajapakshe, Minister of Justice and Buddhashasana. The event was graced by the presence of the past presidents, fellows, council and the members of the College. The presidential address was on beyond survival and quality childhood. Dr. Attygalle introduced the new theme for the academic year of 2015/ 16 "Quality Survival of Children"

Annual Academic Sessions - 2015

Annual Academic Sessions of College of Community Physicians of Sri Lanka for 2015 was held at Taj Samudra Hotel premises from 17th to 19th of September 2015. The theme of the sessions was "Public Health for Sustainable Development" and the programme comprised of a precongress session, five symposiums and multiple free paper sessions to share newly generated knowledge in the local setting.
